What Are Hard Hat Liners and Why Should You Use Them?
If your job requires you to wear a hard hat, you may want to use liners for it. Hard hats are classified as personal protective equipment (PPE) for many workers. Regardless of the type or class, they will protect your head from injury. During the winter, though, you may want to use liners with your hard hat.
What Are Hard Hat Liners?
Hard hat liners are cap-like accessories that are designed for use over a hard hat. As the name suggests, they serve as "lining" for a hard hat. You can wear a hard hat liner over your hard hat. The liner will provide an extra layer of material to keep your head warm.
Reasons to Use Hard Hat Liners
As the temperatures begin to drop, you'll have selectively choose clothes and accessories that will insulate your body. Working outdoors during the winter will inevitably expose you to the cold weather. Failure to choose insulative clothes and accessories will leave you susceptible to frostbite and even hypothermia. Hard hat liners, however, will provide additional insulation so that you are protected from these conditions.
Research shows that up to 90% of all body heat is lost through the head. You can wear a thick jacket, gloves, wool socks and other insulative clothes and accessories. But without the right head protection, you'll inevitably lose a substantial amount of your body heat.
Hard hat liners will keep your head warm while minimizing the loss of body heat through your head. They are soft, insulative accessories that are designed for use over a hard hat.
Hard had liners are easy to use. After putting on a hard hat, you can pull the liner over it. Hard hat liners are designed to fit over hard hats.
How to Choose Hard Hat Liners
When choosing hard hat liners, you should consider the material. Some of them are made of an organic material like cotton, whereas others are made of a synthetic material. Hard hat liners made of a synthetic material typically last longer. Polyester, for instance, is a common material in which they are made. Polyester hard hat liners are not only warm; they are strong and durable as well.
You should consider the type of hard hat with which a liner can be used. Some liners are designed for specific types of hard hats. You'll need to choose a liner, of course, that's compatible with your hard hat type.
