The Benefits of Nitrile Gloves

The Benefits of Nitrile Gloves

Nitrile gloves are a popular alternative to latex gloves. If you're looking to buy new disposable gloves for your workplace, you may want to choose nitrile gloves. They offer several benefits. While you might be familiar with some of the benefits of nitrile gloves, others may surprise you.

Hypoallergenic

With their nitrile construction, you can rest assured knowing that nitrile gloves are hypoallergenic. Latex gloves are not hypoallergenic. Research shows that up to 5% of the U.S. population is allergic to latex. When exposed to latex, they may break out in hives or experience other skin allergy symptoms. This isn't a concern with nitrile gloves.

Strong and Durable

Nitrile gloves are still elastic -- just like latex gloves -- but that doesn't necessarily mean they are weak. On the contrary, nitrile gloves are incredibly strong and durable. Nitrile gloves can withstand extreme mechanical forces without breaking. Pulling them, for instance, typically won't break them. Nitrile is so strong, in fact, that it's used to make seals like gaskets and O-rings. Nitrile gloves retain this same level of strength.

Chemical Resistant

Nitrile gloves are chemical resistant. Chemicals, of course, are commonly found in the workplace. Hospitals and other medical facilities may use various chemicals to sanitize patient rooms and equipment. In comparison, automotive shops may use chemicals in the form of engine oil, transmission fluid, radiator coolant, etc. Nitrile gloves are resistant to chemicals. They won't break down or otherwise degrade when exposed to chemicals.

Form-Fitting

Another benefit of nitrile gloves is their form-fitting design. They will contour to the shape of your hands when worn. Nitrile is an elastic material. With their elastic properties, nitrile gloves are naturally form-fitting. They won't fit loosely. Rather, nitrile gloves will offer a comfortable, tight fit that contours to the shape of your hands.

Puncture Resistant

If you're worried about punctures, you may want to choose nitrile gloves. Nitrile gloves are puncture resistant. When compared to latex gloves, they are up to 300% more puncture resistant. They aren't immune to puncture, but nitrile gloves are less likely to be punctured than latex gloves.

High Touch Sensitivity

You'll still be able to feel tools, equipment and other objects while wearing nitrile gloves. Nitrile gloves offer a high level of touch sensitivity. The same can't be said for other types of gloves. Latex gloves offer a lower level of touch sensitivity. You may struggle to feel objects while wearing latex gloves.
