Sunroom Decorating Tips

If you’re lucky enough to have a sunroom in your home, you should take the time to properly decorate it. Sunroom will receive more natural light coming in through the windows surrounding it than other rooms in your house . Strategically decorating your sunroom will take full advantage of this natural light, creating a warm atmosphere that you and your guests are sure to enjoy.

Using Plants in Your Sunroom

There are countless ways to decorate a sunroom, but most of them involve the use of at least some plants. A sunroom is all about creating a “natural” environment inside of your home. You want it to be an area where you and your guests can go to enjoy the sun and mother nature without going outside, and adding plants is one of the steps in accomplishing this.

Another advantage to decorating your sunroom with plants is their ease of growth. Because sunrooms get plenty of natural sunlight throughout the day, most plants wont have any problem thriving in this environment. So what types of plants you should you use in your sunroom? There’s no rule stating you have to use a specific type of plants, but peace lilies, anthurium and tropical palms are all great ideas to consider.

Use Warm Colors

To get the most out of the natural light coming into your sunroom, you should paint and decorate the walls with warm, almost beachy, colors. This color pallete isn’t only more inviting, but it also helps to reflect the light off of the walls. If you haven’t figured this out already – the more light you have in your sunroom, the better.

Furniture

Depending on the size and functionality of your sunroom, you should think about adding multiple chairs for your guests to come and sit in. Beautifully woven wicker furniture is perfect to use in sunrooms. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and it has an old-fashioned look to it. However, you’ll have to remember to coat it with some oil once in a while to help protect it from the excessive sunlight, as too much sun can cause the wicker to change color.

Along with chairs, you should also add a comfortable couch for you or your guests to lay in. When you come home from a stressful day at work, there’s simply nothing as relaxing as laying down in your sunroom and taking nap. With the warm sun beaming through, you’ll find yourself melt away into a blissful sleep.
