5 Benefits of Using Anti-Slip Tape in the Workplace
Slip-and-fall injuries are common among workers. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), they account for over one-quarter of all nonfatal work-related injuries. If you own or manage a business, however, you can use anti-slip tape to protect workers from slip-and-fall injuries. Anti-slip tape is a special type of tape that, as the name suggests, creates traction to prevent slippage. Below are five benefits of using anti-slip tape in the workplace.
#1) Supports a Variety of Surface Types
You can use anti-slip tape on a variety of surfaces. Like regular type, it features a self-adhesive side that will "stick" to the surface to which it's applied. Maybe your workplace has wood floors, or perhaps it has a workshop with concrete floors. Regardless, you can use anti-slip tape on most types of surfaces.
#2) Inexpensive and Effective
Anti-slip tape is inexpensive and effective. It consists of commercial-grade tape. One side of the tape is exposed to the adhesive. The opposite side of the tape features a gripping pad. The gripping pad is responsible for creating creation. It will allow workers to create traction when walking or standing on it, thus lowering the risk of slip-and-fall injuries.
#3) Chemical Resistant
While there are different types of anti-slip tape, most of them are chemical resistant. Even when exposed to oil, grease, coolant or other chemicals, they will stay in place. Chemicals such as these may degrade other types of tape. Consumer-grade tape, for instance, may damage when exposed to chemicals. Commercial-grade tape like anti-slip tape, though, is resistant to many types of chemicals.
#4) Easy to Use
Of course, anti-slip tape is easy to use. To use it, start by measuring the surface where you plan to install it. You can then cut strips of the anti-slip tape in this size. Most types of anti-slip tape require the use of adhesive. Depending on what type of anti-slip tape you use, however, you may need to manually add the adhesive to the surface. Regardless, anti-slip tape is easy to use. You just need to cut it and then stick it in place.
#5) Saves Money on Workers' Compensation Costs
Anti-slip tape can save your business money on workers' compensation costs. Workers' compensation costs are strongly correlated with injury rates. The higher the rate of injuries, the more you can expect to pay. Anti-slip tape will specifically lower the risk of slip-and-fall injuries. Therefore, it can save your business money on workers' compensation costs.
